BURO Bangladesh and Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BWCCI) will work in Bangladesh INSPIRED project
BURO Bangladesh and Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BWCCI) has recently signed a memorandum of understanding under ‘Socio- economic empowerment of women through promotion of natural fiber-based products from agricultural wastages’ project under INSPIRED program funded by European Union and contracted by Ministry of Industries, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Under this initiative, a project orientation was conducted by Mr. Syed Sultan Chand, Project Coordinator and Mr. Nazrul Islam, Assistant Project Coordinator while it was held in the presence of Ms. Selima Ahmad, BWCCI Founder President, Ms. Anne Raine, Grant Scheme Expert of Bangladesh INSPIRED, Mr. Ali Sabet, Team Leader, component 3 of INSPIRED.
Mr. Md. Mojibur Rahaman, Acting CEO of Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mr. Sirajul Islam, Director of BURO Bangladesh along with INSPIRED project personnel were also present during the orientation.
Mr. Mojibur Rahaman, Acting CEO of BWCCI and Mr. Sirajul Islam,Director of BURO Bangladesh both gave a brief overview of their respective organizations during the orientation. Mr. Syed Sultan Chand, Project Coordinator and Mr. Nazrul Islam, Assistant Project Coordinator of INSPIRED project of BWCCI gave an overview of the project’s mission, vision, objectives and activities with the participants.
BWCCI and BURO are implementing this innovative project in 4 areas of the country-Narsingdi, Gaibandha, Tangail districts and Modhupur sub-district. This project aims at alleviation of poverty and empowerment of women in SME clusters by exploring new sources of Natural Fibers (NF) through efficient management of agricultural wastages of the country.
